Unlikely Bundesliga newcomers, Tasmania Berlin, were never likely to do well among Germany’s footballing elite. They’d managed to scrape through the promotion process from the regional leagues, but found themselves seriously outgunned in the country’s premier league. Despite winning their opening game against Karlsruher SC they were destined to claim the dubious title of worst team in Bundesliga history, with just two wins in 34 games – a campaign during which they scored just eight goals and conceded 108. The lads from Berlin went back down to the Regionalliga Berlin the following season, never to emerge again.
